Papers, 1903-1981.

Papers of Father David Schevchenko include correspondence, sermons, articles, certificates, clippings, financial records, passports, photographs and biographical material. Most of the material deals with his career as an Orthodox missionary in the Russian community in China, 1940's, life in a refugee camp in the Philippines, 1949-1953, and later work as an Orthodox priest in Japan, Belgium and Canada.

Born in Russia, Father Schevchenko went to China in 1915 as an officer in the Russian Army. Ordained a priest in China in 1945, he later served in the Philippines and Japan.
